Since 1st January 2007 – April 30th 2007 we have implemented systems for our staff to keep track of their service versus take home prescription retail, even though we are fully computerised and it was all there, filling out the book has meant out stylists goals are being achieved.
The electronic tools in the Salon Analysis Disc are invaluable, the staff know where their targets are derived from, and they can be making whatever amount they want, it’s a great formula to apply to work out their weekly targets.
We set up a salon weekly budget and we use our electronic budget tool every quarter to work out profitability. We have gone so far as to set up that a specific amount is automatically put away to cover the regular bills like the BAS, Super, Work Care and Holiday Pay, it’s great to have that in place.
We have a one on one with all the stylists monthly where we have a personal coaching session and plan for the upcoming month. The stylists have been great with implementing all the new systems into the salon, especially the electronic productivity gap as it tracks where the girls need to improve their servicing at a glance.
The salon has increased its takings in excess of 45% Year to Date and Retail Sales increased in excess of 150%.
We have in the past peddled backwards when it came to marketing, we have put in place handing out 10 business cards per stylist per week to grow the client numbers. The stylists are coming to the Tuesday meetings with some great stories of experience at giving out the business cards. Priscilla even asks clients she enjoys taking care of in the salon to refer her to some friends similar to themselves, then gives them cards so they can hand them out to grow her clientele. We now monitor our Client Referrals and we have a rewards system in place. The staff often give the clients the “Moment of Magic” we have put together to treat our regular clients. All in all we are not in favour of price pointed promotions so this really worked for us to grow our clientele.
I enjoyed putting together the Goal Setting, for personal goals, staff personal goals and business growth projections. We had a lot of fun creating those and are monitoring them consistently. Funny thing about goals, you write them down and they come to fruition.
The last outcome we have gained from using Salon Advantage is the team development, young and green team of five have jelled so well together, and really support each other to meet our targets.
